Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Nurse

Position Overview:

The Progressive Care Nurse will provide comprehensive care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on the medical/surgical unit. This includes delivering physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support while monitoring and managing a diverse patient population, including pediatrics, pre and post PCI care, pacemaker patients, CHF, COPD, sepsis, and more. The nurse will assess, implement, and manage care plans for patients requiring advanced interventions, including those with central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilatory support. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care to patients on the medical/surgical unit, including those with complex diagnoses requiring skilled assessment and intervention.
  • Operate advanced medical equipment, including A-lines, chest tubes, invasive lines, and ventilatory support systems.
  • Manage patient care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure patient-centered care and address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Lead and precept staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support staff.
  • Implement established nursing policies and procedures with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • Degree from an accredited Nursing Program required.

Experience:

  • Experience in advanced medical/surgical units and recent critical care or progressive care nursing required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current State of Montana RN Licensure required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (or obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in operating advanced medical equipment, including A-lines, invasive lines, and ventilatory support systems.
  • Ability to interpret basic cardiac telemetry and EKG.
  • Advanced nursing principles and procedures, with pediatric experience preferred.
