Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Radiologic Technologist to join our team. The Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for obtaining high-quality radiographs of patients using both stationary and portable radiographic equipment. This role requires the ability to provide excellent patient care while adhering to radiation safety guidelines and ensuring all procedures are carried out effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain quality radiographs of patients within the department and using portable equipment within an acceptable timeframe.
- Comply with radiation safety guidelines for both patient and self, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Operate radiographic equipment safely and competently.
- Perform all necessary computer operations (e.g., Meditech, PACS) and ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.
- Provide professional and courteous patient care.
- Prepare examination rooms for radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, maintain inventory of supplies, and ensure cleanliness of work areas and dressing rooms.
- Assist radiologists with administering medications, contrast agents, and other patient care needs.
- Review each exam for technical accuracy, ensuring proper markers, positioning, and quality.
- Assist the Diagnostic Supervisor with PACS clean-up tasks such as cleaning CR plates, erasing cassettes, and closing/sending exams from workstations.
- Complete and maintain personal educational requirements, including continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and employee information according to policy.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Membership in the Society of Radiologic Technology and/or Virginia Society of Radiologic Technology.
- Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Will consider new graduates.
