Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (3x per week)
Start Date: Within 2 weeks
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possibility to extend)
Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
Weekly Gross: $2,268
Job Overview:
We are seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time contract assignment in a correctional facility in California City, CA. This role involves delivering comprehensive nursing care, supporting medical providers, and ensuring the health and safety of the incarcerated population. Candidates must have active ICE clearance and be comfortable in secure, high-security settings.
Responsibilities:
- Administer medications and execute provider orders
Support provider examinations and perform patient triage - Evaluate and treat ill or injured inmates/residents and coordinate emergency care
- Operate pill call and document all medication administration
- Supervise LVNs and unlicensed medical staff
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatments, and incidents
- Monitor inmate hospitalizations and support continuity of care
- Assist with audits, reporting, and regulatory compliance (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO)
- Educate patients on health practices in one-on-one or group settings
- Maintain security and proper storage of medical supplies
- Respond to emergencies and perform rescue functions when needed
- Escort patients within the facility for medical treatments
- Perform safety checks and report or act on potentially disruptive or dangerous situations
Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- Active, unrestricted RN license in California
- Current ICE Clearance required for submission
- ICE Clearance Screening Form must be submitted
- Must reside 70+ miles away from the facility
- Must be available to start within 2 weeks
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid drivers license required
- Must have open availability, including weekends and holidays
- No RTO (Requested Time Off) permitted during the assignment
Preferred:
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
- Experience in correctional or institutional healthcare settings
- Active AHA BLS certification
