Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Position Overview:

Sterile Processing Technicians play a pivotal role in surgical operations, providing critical support to ensure the efficiency and safety of surgical procedures. This position involves preparing, maintaining, and overseeing the sterile environment and surgical instruments, thereby supporting both the surgical team and patient care directly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence in the OR/SPD:
  • Prepare and manage pre-operative setups, including equipment and surgical instrument preparation tailored to surgeon preferences.
  • Uphold sterile conditions throughout surgical procedures and address any intra-operative equipment or supply challenges.
  • Streamline OR turnovers to optimize readiness for subsequent procedures.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management:
  • Perform regular maintenance and inspections of all surgical tools and equipment, managing necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Keep accurate records of inventories and update surgeon preference cards to ensure operational compliance and efficiency.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration and Compliance:
  • Work closely with various hospital departments, such as endoscopy and materials management, to ensure integrated service delivery and compliance.
  • Adhere to strict professional standards and safety regulations, enhancing team performance and patient outcomes.

Position Requirements:

  • Education & Certification:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED; additional technical training is advantageous.
  • No initial certification required; however, CRCST certification must be obtained within 120 days of employment.
  • Experience & Skills:
  • No prior OR experience necessary; strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Robust teamwork and communication skills are crucial for effective collaboration within the healthcare team.
  • Physical and Environmental Conditions:
  • Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, extensive standing, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts in a 24/7 operational environment, including weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.

Compensation:

  • Starting salary of $17.50 per hour.
  • Increase to $18.70 per hour after a successful 120-day managerial review and attainment of CRCST certification.

Additional Requirements:
