Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Surgical Technician to join our surgical team. This full-time role offers a 40-hour workweek with no weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements, providing an excellent work-life balance. You will be responsible for supporting surgeons and the surgical team in various specialties including Orthopedics, Total Joint Replacement, General Surgery, Plastics, ENT, Pain Management, and Podiatry.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Technical Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
- At least 1 year of Hospital Experience (required).
- At least 1 year of experience in Orthopedics (required).
- Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (required).
- Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Course Completion.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and manage emergency situations.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in a Surgical Technologist role.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all are sterile and in proper working order.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating their needs to facilitate the smooth and efficient progression of the surgery.
- Ensure the surgical environment remains sterile by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patient safety and well-being throughout the procedure, alerting the surgical team to any issues.
- Handle specimens, ensuring they are properly labeled and sent to the laboratory as required.
- Collaborate with the surgical team, maintaining clear and professional communication to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Participate in the preparation and positioning of patients for surgery.
- Assist in the cleaning and turnover of the operating room between cases.
