Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist - Operating Room

Location: College Station, TX

Shift: Full-Time, 10-Hour Day Shifts (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM), 4 Shifts Per Week (40 Hours Total)

Salary Range: $24.55 - $35.54 per hour, based on experience

Job Overview:

As a CST, you will be instrumental in providing high-quality care during surgical procedures, ensuring the proper setup and maintenance of the sterile field, and assisting the surgical team with various tasks. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and functioning properly
  • Assist surgeons and the surgical team by anticipating their needs and passing sterile instruments during surgery
  • Perform surgical counts of sponges, instruments, and sharps, ensuring adherence to hospital policies
  • Assist with patient preparation, including aseptic cleaning and clipping of the operative site
  • Handle surgical specimens according to protocol, ensuring accurate labeling and proper handoff
  • Clean and decontaminate instruments post-procedure, preparing them for sterilization
  • Follow infection control policies, Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) guidelines, and OSHA standards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain inventory, document equipment use, and ensure timely reordering of supplies

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program (CAAHEP accredited or equivalent)
  • Less than 1 year of experience (new graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or NCCT
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
  • Completion of military surgical technologist training or prior surgical tech experience before September 1, 2009, may fulfill certification requirements
