Salary Range: Up to $173,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
Job Overview:
The NICU Director ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by overseeing the daily operations and staffing of the Level III NICU department. The Director is responsible for forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. You will work to improve efficiency, patient safety, and clinical outcomes by implementing evidence-based practices. This leadership role also ensures adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards and works to maintain a seamless flow of patient care across the unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Manage clinical practice variation to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost management.
- Ensure compliance with internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, legal and regulatory standards.
- Oversee patient throughput, volume forecasting, and admission/discharge planning to ensure patient-centered care.
- Develop care coordination policies to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency in patient care.
- Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, ensuring staff have the appropriate clinical competencies.
- Direct nursing practice and unit operations, ensuring policies and procedures align with patient and family care needs.
- Provide leadership to ensure a positive and unparalleled patient experience.
- Participate in budget development, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
- Share rotating on-call duties with two NICU Managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or approved equivalent education required; BSN preferred.
- Masters Degree preferred.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or compact licensure, in accordance with law and regulation.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- NRP, FHM, and RNC-OB certifications preferred for L&D nurses.
