Compensation:

  • Minimum Rate Per Hour: $24.55
  • Maximum Rate Per Hour: $35.54

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team in Marble Falls. This part-time night position involves working 12-hour shifts and offers the opportunity to assist in surgical procedures, ensuring the operating room is prepared and sterile, and that all equipment functions properly. You will play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up the operating room according to surgical procedure schedules, arranging sterile instrument tables, supplies, and equipment required for specific procedures.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures.
  • Prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and shaving as needed.
  • Assist the surgical team with draping and positioning the patient.
  • Clean the operating room following each case and return equipment to appropriate storage areas.
  • Maintain inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies, ensuring compliance with established policies and regulatory standards.
  • Follow infection control policies, AORN recommendations, OSHA guidelines, and other regulatory requirements to ensure a safe work environment.

Key Success Factors:

  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and sterilization standards.
  • Understanding of sterile and aseptic techniques, as well as human anatomy and surgical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with the surgical and central sterile processing teams.
  • Experience with handling exposure to chemical and radiation hazards in a controlled manner.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
  • Experience: Less than 1 year of experience required.
  • Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required from NBSTSA or NCCT, unless exempt based on prior experience before September 1, 2009.
