Job Title: Mammography Technologist
Location: Harker Heights, Texas
Shift: 8-Hour Day Shifts (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Shifts Per Week: 5 Shifts (40 Hours Total)
Hourly Pay Rate: Up to $36.81/hour
Job Overview:
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography procedures under the guidelines of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and ensuring that all patients receive high-quality, personalized care. This position plays a crucial role in patient diagnosis by providing physicians with high-quality mammography images, while adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality mammography procedures ensuring proper imaging parameters (MAS, KVP, positioning) are utilized.
- Explain the mammography procedure to patients and/or family members in a clear and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, local, and federal regulations, and maintain documentation supporting the quality control program.
- Adhere to radiation safety practices following ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) standards.
- Assist with minimal nursing care, ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures; seek additional nursing or physician assistance if necessary.
- Perform quality control checks on mammography equipment and notify management of potential malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate and organized department paperwork.
- Enter and retrieve patient information from the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and the Hospital Information System (HIS) proficiently.
- Collaborate effectively with medical staff, administrative personnel, and nursing staff.
- Ensure adequate stock of supplies for the division to prevent interruptions in patient care.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of education required for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(M).
- Previous experience as a Mammography Technologist is preferred.
- Registered or registry-eligible by ARRT for Mammography (M) preferred.
- Licensed by the Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association is required.
