Scheduled Hours: 36 hours per week

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 annually

Job Overview:

The Surgery Manager is a working manager responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Surgery and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) departments. This role involves managing staffing, scheduling, and maintaining productivity targets, while ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to policies and objectives. You will also provide leadership for the surgical team, assist with budgeting, and collaborate with physicians and other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee staffing assignments, ensuring adequate daily coverage and maintaining productivity targets.
  • Prepare and complete work schedules, including managing on-call staffing.
  • Recommend staffing changes and interview, hire, and evaluate personnel.
  • Provide performance appraisals, goal setting, counseling, and discipline as needed.
  • Manage day-to-day operations in PACU, Surgery, Sterile Processing, and the Valve Clinic.
  • Ensure that department operations meet performance benchmarks and productivity targets.
  • Participate in budget preparation and monitor departmental financials.
  • Regularly communicate with staff and participate in meetings with physicians and other departments.
  • Attend and document mandatory staff meetings and educational sessions.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for performance reviews, patient care improvements, and operational changes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in surgical services.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or charge nurse position in Surgery/Day Surgery.
