Job Overview
A leading healthcare system in Charlotte, NC is seeking experienced Interventional Radiology Technologists to join a fast-paced, team-oriented Radiology Special Studies department.
This role supports invasive angiographic and interventional procedures in the Interventional Radiology Suite. The IR Tech will scrub and circulate procedures, assist with total patient care during and after procedures, and monitor patients throughout their time in the Interventional Radiology area.
This is an urgent need with multiple schedule options available.
Available Schedules
- Monday to Friday, weekdays
- Monday to Thursday, 4x10s, 3rd shift
- Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 3x12s, 3rd shift
Responsibilities
- Scrub and circulate Interventional Radiology procedures
- Perform specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage during interventional and angiographic procedures under physician direction
- Prepare and explain procedures to patients
- Support patient comfort and safety throughout procedures
- Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by licensed staff
- Provide supplies needed for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures
- Remove catheters/sheaths and apply direct pressure or clamps as appropriate
- Record and process hemodynamic reports, contrast media records, and charges accurately
- Enter patient data and inventory into the WITT program
- Send imaging for physician review
- Communicate equipment issues to leadership or the department engineer
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program or accredited Radiology Interventional Program
- ARRT (R) required
- BLS required through AHA or ARC
- Interventional Radiology experience required
- Stroke and trauma experience required
- RCIS candidates accepted
- Must be able to take call
- Must live within a 30-minute response time for call coverage
Preferred Experience
- 1 year of diagnostic radiology experience
- 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience
Patient Population
- Pediatric to adult patients
- Outpatient and inpatient settings
Call Requirement
This role includes back-up call coverage. The facility has a 3rd shift IR team, so call responsibility is primarily back-up coverage in case of a second stroke, trauma, or other emergent procedure requiring an additional team.
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing and walking while wearing 10 to 15-pound lead radiation protection aprons. The role includes exposure to radiation, blood, and bodily fluids, and requires strong manual dexterity, normal vision, good hand-eye coordination, and constant concentration during procedures.
Growth Opportunity
