Job Overview

We are seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Manager to lead both operational and clinical pharmacy services for a small rural hospital with advanced clinical care. This role is ideal for a hands-on pharmacy leader who can balance daily operations, medication safety, clinical excellence, staff development, and Epic Willow inpatient workflows.

The Inpatient Pharmacy Manager will oversee pharmacists and pharmacy technicians while supporting safe medication distribution, evidence-based therapy, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across inpatient pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily inpatient pharmacy operations, including medication distribution, sterile compounding, ADCs, controlled substances, and inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with USP <797>/<800>, Joint Commission standards, and state and federal regulations.
  • Lead medication safety initiatives, adverse drug event reviews, root cause analysis, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Support clinical pharmacy services across inpatient service lines.
  • Serve as a pharmacy lead for Epic Willow Inpatient workflows, including order routing, dispense workflows, medication records, reporting, and optimization.
  • Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, competency validation, and performance management.
  • Support education and professional development for pharmacy staff.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, IT, quality, supply chain, and hospital leadership on medication-use processes.
  • Provide direct operational or clinical support during staffing shortages, high-volume periods, or urgent needs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • PharmD.
  • Active Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience leading pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy services.
  • Experience managing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Strong knowledge of medication safety, regulatory standards, clinical pharmacy practice, and pharmacy operations.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS through the American Heart Association.

Preferred:

  • Rural hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Epic Willow Inpatient experience.
  • Familiarity with the Glenwood Springs/Roaring Fork Valley area.
