They are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their dynamic team.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction and real estate development industry and be comfortable working in an independent setting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who can contribute to the company's financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Manage job costing, project financials, and WIP schedules.
  • Oversee cash flow management and financial risk assessment.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and reporting.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CPA designation in progress is a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the construction or real estate development industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, Yardi, or Procore).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
