About the job Construction Project Manager

New City Contracting is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in large mechanical and electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, though equivalent experience will also be considered. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project management, including procurement, scope, scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, communications, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Scheduling Manager to update project schedules
  • Monitor and update daily sign-in and sign-out via Sitemax
  • Stay up to date with Accounts Payable and TimberScan
  • Prepare Markup Schedule of Values
  • Review and approve T&M records
  • Approve material orders and ensure timely deliveries
  • Attend all site meetings with trades and engineers
  • Meet with Property Managers and residents as needed
  • Coordinate with all trades to address and resolve any issues
  • Oversee work with trades, site superintendents, foremen, project coordinator, and tenant liaison
  • Follow up on SVR and SI to ensure trade completeness and QA
  • Issue POs, COs, CRs, and RFIs as required, including review and release
  • Collaborate with the BD team to ensure all scopes are covered and properly documented
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, coordinating construction activities to minimize disruption
  • Facilitate communication between tenants and the construction team
  • Conduct regular site visits and organize tenant meetings
  • Follow up on trade completeness and quality assurance


Requirements:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred, though a related degree or diploma is acceptable
  • At least three years of experience in a management role and/or five years of experience in residential, commercial, or high-rise construction
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Ability to manage coordination efforts in construction maintenance projects involving various stakeholders, such as architects, project engineers, and subcontractors
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Proven experience in preparing and conducting post-implementation evaluations
  • Ability to create realistic schedules to ensure timely completion of construction projects
  • Demonstrated cost control measures and strong project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands effectively
