As part of its strategic growth and operational transformation in Asia, the company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and optimize its manufacturing operations in Haimen, China.
About the role
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering function across product development, engineering design, process engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role oversees the development of mining equipment from concept through production, ensures engineering excellence, drives product innovation and cost optimization, and manages a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Engineering Strategy & Planning
Develop and execute annual engineering plans aligned with company objectives, product roadmap, and market requirements.
Lead engineering initiatives related to new product introduction, production capacity expansion, manufacturing process improvements, and technology upgrades.
Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable international standards, including ISO, ASME, API, and relevant mining industry regulations.
2.
Engineering Team Leadership
Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Mechanical Design, Electrical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Process Engineering, and Technical Documentation.
Build a high-performance engineering organization through coaching, mentoring, recruitment, training, and succession planning.
Establish clear performance objectives, KPIs, and career development plans for team members.

Product Design & Engineering Management
Establish and continuously improve engineering design standards, procedures, and development processes.
Manage the complete product development lifecycle for mining equipment, including crushers, screens, feeders, conveyors, apron feeders, and related systems.
Oversee conceptual design, detailed engineering, prototype development, testing, validation, and production release.
Ensure engineering designs meet performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements.
Lead design reviews, technical risk assessments, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and design validation activities.
Drive value engineering initiatives to improve product reliability while reducing material usage and manufacturing costs.
Oversee engineering documentation, including 2D/3D CAD models, engineering drawings, BOM, technical specifications, and Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN).

Manufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement
Lead manufacturing process development, including production workflows, assembly procedures, tooling, fixtures, gauges, and testing methods.
Promote Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve production efficiency.
Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, improve product quality, and reduce waste.
5.
Quality & Engineering Compliance
Ensure all engineering designs and technical documentation comply with company quality systems and applicable international standards.
Work closely with the Quality team to establish inspection standards, testing procedures, and product acceptance criteria.

Project & Cost Management
Manage engineering budgets, project schedules, resource planning, and technical deliverables.
Lead cross-functional engineering projects, including new product development, plant expansion, manufacturing improvements, and product redesign.
Evaluate new materials, components, suppliers, and technologies to improve product performance while reducing manufacturing costs.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and ensure timely project completion.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration & Technical Support
Partner with Sales, Operations, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Project Management teams to deliver practical engineering solutions.
Provide technical expertise during customer discussions, project execution, and after-sales support when required.
Facilitate technical reviews, engineering meetings, and lessons-learned sessions to promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Resolve complex engineering issues affecting manufacturing, installation, or field operations.
8. Technology & Product Development
Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, competitor products, and market developments within the mining equipment industry.
Recommend innovative engineering solutions to enhance product competitiveness and operational efficiency.
Support new product development and product enhancement initiatives through technical research and feasibility studies.
Key Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in mining equipment, heavy machinery, industrial equipment, or related manufacturing industries.
At least 3–5 years of experience managing engineering teams.
Proven experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, and new product development.
Experience with crushing, screening, conveying, or bulk material handling equipment is highly preferred.
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of mechanical product design, structural engineering, manufacturing processes, and engineering project management.
Proficient in CAD systems, engineering drawings, BOM management, and engineering change control processes.
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Knowledge of ISO, ASME, API, and relevant engineering standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
