Senior Business Architect
A global consulting organisation delivering a major transformation program for a leading Australian energy provider is seeking an experienced Senior Business Architect to join their architecture and delivery team.
This role will play a critical part in shaping the business architecture and enterprise capability model supporting a large-scale technology and operational transformation within the energy sector.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across both the consulting organisation and the client to ensure business strategy, technology platforms, and delivery initiatives align with the target enterprise architecture.
The Opportunity
As the Senior Business Architect, you will bridge the gap between business strategy and technology delivery, helping translate business goals into clear architecture artefacts and transformation roadmaps.
You will work alongside enterprise architects, solution architects, and program delivery teams to ensure that the transformation program delivers sustainable and scalable outcomes for the client.
This role will suit an architect who enjoys working within large, complex transformation programs and collaborating with senior business and technology stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with client stakeholders and consulting delivery teams to translate business strategy into architecture models and roadmaps
- Develop and maintain key business architecture artefacts, including:
- Capability models and capability maps
- Target operating models
- Transition roadmaps
- Architecture principles and standards
- Conduct architecture impact assessments and gap analysis across transformation initiatives
- Ensure new solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and strategic technology direction
- Provide architecture guidance to program and delivery teams
- Support the definition of business processes, capabilities, and value streams
- Contribute to the development of architecture frameworks and governance processes
- Maintain architecture artefacts within enterprise architecture tools such as OrbusInfinity
- Collaborate with enterprise, solution, and integration architects across the program
About You
You are a strategic and commercially aware architect with experience working on complex transformation programs within large enterprise environments.
You can confidently engage with senior stakeholders while also supporting delivery teams with practical architecture guidance.
Key Requirements
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related discipline
- TOGAF certification (v9 or higher)
- 10+ years experience in the IT industry
- 5+ years experience in business, enterprise, or domain architecture roles
- Experience working in large enterprise transformation programs
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and practices
- Experience working across COTS, SaaS, and custom technology environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable
- Experience working in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors
- Experience working within consulting or systems integrator environments
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern integration architectures
- Experience with business capability modelling and value stream mapping
- Certifications in Agile, SAFe, or project delivery methodologies
