- Job Summary
Performs heat treating per specifications outlined on work order, i.e., pre-heat, post-heat stress relieve, normalize, temper or anneal. Involves the operation of hand tools & machinery (forge hammer, anvil, presser furnace etc.) to form flanges using intense heat environment.
- Requirements & Qualifications to Get Job
- Must be able to read and understand work orders, drawings, and other written instructions
- Attention to detail in maintaining paperwork and heat treat lot numbers / serial numbers
- Able to operate basic hand tools with proficiency
- 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Able to communicate in English
- High school diploma / GED
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: eye & hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, hard hat, and flame retardant work clothes, etc.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. & work in varying environmental conditions (heat, dust, noise, vibration, humidity).
- Preferences to Get Job
- 1-2 years of heat treat experience preferred
- What you do on Job
- Operate all furnaces and facilitate operability of machinery
- Must be able to "pull heat"-be able to use tongs and other required tools to adequately position/reposition material to be fashioned into flanges using the hammer, anvil and presser
- Once flanges are created, transport to machining shop to be threaded/grinded using a forklift with manipulators
- Keep accurate records and furnace charts
- Perform hardness testing to verify compliance to work order requirement
- Organize "heat treat lots" of material based on time & temperature requirements
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist other processes as directed by the supervisor.
