About the Role:

The Inpatient EEG Coordinator reports to the Manager of the Clinical Neurophysiology Services Department. The Inpatient EEG Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily 24-hour inpatient EEG operations for both Adult and Pediatric Services as well as supervising the EEG Technical staff and Clinical Unit Leaders. This position is responsible for maintaining policies and procedures; and QA program development and implementation in conjunction. This role maintains our lab accreditations for Long Term EEG Monitoring-The Critical Care EEG Monitoring Program, Long Term EEG Monitoring-The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit Program and Pediatric Lab. This position works with the Neurosurgeons and oversees epilepsy surgery cases which includes programming EEGs for recording of intracranial electrodes; providing intraoperative EEG monitoring; and following these patients EEGs to completion. The Inpatient EEG Coordinator provides back-up coverage for the EEG Clinical Specialist Coordinator for leadership support. Under limited supervision, the Inpatient EEG Coordinator supports the Clinical Neurophysiology Services department, ICCE and Medical Center goals. Goals include achievement of clinical and quality measures, operational efficiency, financial targets as well as population/age specific needs of the department.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day CNPS clinical services and a team of almost 40 direct reports
  • Assist manager with just culture analysis, team engagement and discipline of staff.
  • Perform and/or demonstrate proficiency in: Routine EEG, ICU monitoring, Epilepsy monitoring, Cortical mapping, identification of waveform artifact, antiepileptic medication and medication that alters the EEG, work up for epilepsy surgery and neuroanatomy.
  • Support in collaboration with the EEG Clinical Specialist Coordinator to Organize and oversee Epilepsy Surgery cases.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement (PI) activities designed to improve patient care and/or organizational processes. Continuous work on culture of safety improvements including supporting our culture of reporting with team communication of SHIELD reporting.

· Prepare monthly/yearly budgets

· Quality improvement initiatives

· Maintain ABRET lab accreditations and support Level IV Epilepsy Center accreditation

· Oversee epilepsy surgery cases which includes programming EEGs for recording of intracranial electrodes

Position Summary

Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry &/or Certifications)

Associate degree or graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic program or the equivalent, bachelors degree is preferred and registered as an EEG Technician by ABRET required and must be maintained. Minimum of Five years Neurodiagnostic work experience required with at least three years EEG Technologist experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

· Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited program of Electroneurodiagnostic (END) technology or the equivalent and registered as an EEG Technician by ABRET required and must be maintained.

· Three years of EEG Technician work experience required.

· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA-recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Providers.

Salary

· $58k- $99k (Depending on experience)

Schedule

· Monday-Friday: Coordinator is not expected to cover holidays or be on site for disasters due to the time needed by the Coordinator for disaster planning.

The EEG Clinical Specialist Coordinator will report to the CNPS Manager. In collaboration with the Manager, the EEG Clinical Specialist Coordinator is responsible for clinical practice in the EEG Department and equipment and technical oversight of EEG equipment. The EEG Clinical Specialist Coordinator is responsible for supervising EEG Specialists and provides back-up coverage for the EEG Specialist, including data management of all EEGs performed and overall management of EEG servers. This position works with the Neurosurgeons and oversees epilepsy surgery cases, which includes programming EEGs for recording of intracranial electrodes; providing intraoperative EEG monitoring, and following these patients EEGs to completion. The EEG Clinical Specialist Coordinator exhibits current clinical knowledge and expertise for designated patient populations, and is accountable for continued competence in electroneurodiagnostic practice and clinical outcomes in accordance with current evidence-based practice guidelines. This position assists in developing quality care initiatives to improve patient outcomes and patient safety. This role recognizes practice opportunities and collaborates with the interprofessional team to help remove barriers and enhance evidence-based practice standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of clinical experience in area of expertise required.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with quality improvement methodology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certification in a specialized field.

Clinical Specialist Coordinator Job Responsibilities:
