JOB DESCRIPTION:

Set-up patients in physician offices or patient homes for Ambulatory EEG monitoring, remove electrodes, clean patients head, disinfect equipment, and ensure successful transfer of patient data for analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiation and termination of the technical operation of Ambulatory EEG studies, including:
  • Patient preparation explain procedure and daily event diary keeping, obtain a patient history, determine status of patient consciousness, PDR, perform patient head measurement utilizing the International 10/20 Electrode Placement System, electrode application and securing for term of study.
  • Perform photic stimulation and hyperventilation as directed.
  • Equipment set-up ensure appropriate set-up and placement of monitoring and video equipment.
  • Patient clean-up remove electrodes, clean patient head and hair, ensuring no paste or other products remain in their hair. Document and report any patient skin reaction or damage as a result of the study.
  • Equipment take-down ensure appropriate cleaning and disinfection of equipment, ensure all equipment is accounted for, functional and ready for the next study.
  • Data recording ensure video and data is recording appropriately before leaving the site, ensure data is successfully transferred to storage medium for pruning/editing and review.
  • Patient forms and event record collect all forms and review patient event record with the patient
  • Troubleshooting or equipment and electrode fixes performed remotely in patient homes or physician offices as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited EEG or PSG Technology Program or a minimum of 1 year of work experience in the field of neurodiagnostic technology, with Ambulatory EEG, EMU or LTM experience preferred.

Experience in the use and routine maintenance of LTM equipment, with particular emphasis on techniques for monitoring the integrity of data recording.

Experience in the recognition of ictal and interictal electrographic patterns and their differentiation from artifacts.

Experience in the management of clinical seizures and seizure related medical emergencies, able to identify and communicate specific ictal symptoms to appropriate physicians or nursing staff.

Current BLS CPR Card.

ABRET R. EEG T. credential preferred.
