The Senior Network Engineer plays a critical role in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable network solutions for clients. Operating within a fast-paced Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment, the Senior Network Engineer is also a key escalation point for resolving complex network issues and mentoring junior engineers
Key Responsibilities
Network Design and Implementation
- Architect and deploy network solutions, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, switches, and wireless infrastructure.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
- Implement robust security protocols to protect client environments against emerging threats.
Troubleshooting
- Serve as an escalation point for high-priority network incidents and outages.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to ensure network reliability.
- Provide remote and onsite support for critical network issues.
- Monitoring and Optimization
- Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize network performance by analysing traffic patterns and implementing best practices.
- Ensure compliance with SLAs through efficient incident management and reporting.
- Client Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering guidance on network improvements and best practices.
- Participate in client meetings to discuss project goals, progress, and technical recommendations.
- Provide clear and professional communication to stakeholders during incidents and projects.
- Mentorship and Team Development
- Mentor junior network engineers, fostering growth and development within the team.
- Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions on new technologies and methodologies.
