Job Title: Cloud Operations Software Engineer

Location: 100% Remote, Canada

Experience: 5+ Years

Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a skilled Cloud Engineer with strong Software Engineering and DevOps experience to support, document, and maintain critical software products. The selected candidate will ensure seamless operation, create comprehensive technical documentation, and enhance deployment and maintenance processes through CI/CD best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure and Engineering teams to maintain software products, ensuring security, compliance, and performance
  • Support the Customer Success team by troubleshooting customer issues and implementing patches or fixes
  • Analyze and document end-to-end system architecture to enhance team understanding and collaboration
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and drive DevOps best practices for CI/CD pipeline management
  • Perform regular patching, security updates, and performance tuning for existing applications
  • Ensure adherence to platform policies and compliance standards across all deployed services

Must-Have Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • Hands-on experience with full-stack models, services, and cloud deployment
  • Proficiency in either GCP or AWS (comfortable with both environments)
  • Strong understanding of full-stack software using Go, JavaScript, and React
  • Proficiency in NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB)
  • Experience developing desktop applications with C#
  • Familiarity with Jenkins or BuildKite for CI/CD
  • Experience with Docker, Terraform, and Linux for DevOps workflows
  • Proficiency with Git and GitHub for version control
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Proficiency with both GCP and AWS environments
  • Experience with gRPC and Protobuf
  • Familiarity with Unity or basic game engine development
  • Experience using TestFlight for software distribution
  • Understanding of installers and deployment packaging
  • Knowledge of Electron for cross-platform desktop applications
  • Experience with Bitbucket Pipelines for CI/CD
