We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DBA with deep experience in SQL Server, Snowflake, and Azure cloud environments to join our growing Infrastructure team. You will play a key role in database administration, platform stability, and performance optimization across large-scale enterprise systems. This role is ideal for candidates who have led small projects or mentored colleagues, in addition to hands-on technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server environments across production and non-production systems in Azure.
- Monitor and improve database performance through query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting locks, blocking, and wait statistics.
- Manage backup and restore processes, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery configurations.
- Administer and optimize Snowflake environments, including warehouse sizing, access controls, roles, permissions, and platform performance.
- Support integrations with Azure services, external stages, blob storage, and automation workflows related to database operations.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, DevOps, and Data teams on deployments, migrations, incident response, and continuous platform improvements.
- Lead small-scale projects or initiatives, mentor junior DBAs, and contribute to database administration best practices and governance standards.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in database administration and database performance optimization.
- Availability to attend an in-person meeting in Bogotá, Colombia once per month.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including administration, tuning, replication, backup and recovery, and HA/DR.
- Strong experience with Snowflake administration, architecture, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in large-scale or high-volume environments.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, transactions, indexing, and database reliability best practices.
- Above Average English communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise or retail platforms with high transaction volumes.
- Background in database modernization, migration, or cloud transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation using PowerShell or Python.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong leadership, ownership, and decision-making skills in infrastructure-focused environments.
