We are seeking a skilled Controller with strong experience leading accounting and finance functions for a growing U.S.-based small to mid-sized business. You will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, supporting acquisition integration and purchase accounting, and providing leadership to the accounting team. Your work will directly impact financial accuracy, operational scalability, audit readiness, and strategic decision-making as the company grows from approximately $20M in revenue to an expected $30M+ business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger management, month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage purchase accounting activities related to acquisitions, including integration of acquired entities and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting processes and ensure accurate reporting across multiple legal entities.
  • Lead annual financial audits, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors and ensuring timely completion of audit requirements.
  • Manage sales tax compliance and coordinate with external advisors as needed to address multi-state tax matters.
  • Evaluate, optimize, and help manage the company's financial technology stack, including ERP systems, billing platforms, and related financial applications.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and operational guidance to a growing accounting team of three professionals while driving process improvements and strengthening internal controls.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including recent experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership role.
  • Experience working with a U.S.-based company, preferably a small to mid-sized business with annual revenue between $40M and $80M.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close processes, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting acquisitions, purchase accounting, entity integration, or related transaction activities.
  • Experience managing accounting operations across multiple entities, including intercompany transactions and consolidations.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, financial software, and accounting process optimization.
  • Exceptional English communication skills with the ability to confidently interact with executives, auditors, external advisors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting certification (preferred but not required).
  • Experience in high-growth or acquisitive organizations.
  • Prior responsibility for leading annual audits and coordinating external audit relationships.
  • Experience managing sales tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven success building scalable accounting processes in rapidly growing businesses.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing accounting technology, ERP enhancements, or financial systems improvements.
  • Prior experience managing and developing remote accounting teams.
