We are seeking a skilled Drayage Freight Broker with strong experience in carrier sales, drayage operations, and logistics coordination to join our growing team. You will play a key role in managing freight movements, sourcing carrier capacity, and coordinating container, LTL, and FTL shipments from pickup through final delivery. Your work will directly impact service reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily drayage, intermodal, LTL, and FTL operations, ensuring accurate and timely execution of shipments from pickup through delivery.
- Source, negotiate, and manage carrier relationships while securing competitive market rates and maintaining carrier capacity.
- Schedule and dispatch container pickups and deliveries, coordinating with ports, rail terminals, steamship lines, warehouses, and trucking companies.
- Post and manage loads on platforms such as DAT and Truckstop, responding promptly to carrier inquiries and capacity opportunities.
- Verify shipment details including appointments, equipment requirements, commodities, container information, and special handling instructions before dispatch.
- Monitor shipments in transit using tracking tools such as Macropoint, Project44, and Trucker Tools, proactively resolving delays, missed appointments, chassis shortages, container holds, and other service disruptions.
- Maintain accurate records within PortPro and other TMS platforms, managing documentation including Bills of Lading (BOLs), Delivery Orders, Proofs of Delivery (PODs), customs paperwork, and accessorial charges while providing proactive customer updates.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, drayage, intermodal logistics, or transportation coordination.
- Proven experience in drayage operations, port logistics, and carrier sales within a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of freight brokerage processes, container terminology, and LTL/FTL transportation operations.
- Experience using TMS platforms, preferably PortPro, along with load boards such as DAT and Truckstop.
- Hands-on experience with shipment visibility and tracking tools including Macropoint, Project44, Trucker Tools, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of carrier compliance requirements, including FMCSA regulations, insurance verification, broker-carrier agreements, and operational best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish, with strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with U.S.-based logistics operations, customers, and carriers across multiple time zones.
- Strong understanding of demurrage, detention, port congestion management, chassis availability, and intermodal operations.
- Experience managing high-volume shipment boards while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and service levels.
- Familiarity with logistics reporting, KPI tracking, and performance metrics related to on-time delivery, tracking compliance, and customer responsiveness.
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets, transportation reporting tools, and freight management systems.
- Experience handling customer escalations and operational exceptions while maintaining service quality.
