Our client is seeking a skilled Accountant with strong Brazilian accounting and tax compliance experience, including hands-on expertise with the SPED environment. You will play a key role in managing monthly bookkeeping, statutory filings, tax obligations, and financial reporting for foreign-owned Brazilian entities. Your work will directly impact the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of their clients' Brazilian operations while ensuring international stakeholders clearly understand local requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly bookkeeping and maintain accounting records in accordance with Brazilian accounting standards (CPC / BR GAAP).
- Prepare and submit SPED obligations, including ECD, ECF, EFD-Contribuições, and EFD-ICMS/IPI, within statutory deadlines.
- Calculate and file federal, state, and municipal taxes, including IRPJ, CSLL, PIS, COFINS, ICMS, and ISS, under Lucro Real and Lucro Presumido regimes.
- Manage EFD-Reinf and DCTFWeb submissions and reconcile filings with payroll and third-party withholding data.
- Support NF-e and NFS-e compliance, including municipal registration requirements and invoice issuance activities.
- Coordinate eSocial obligations and reconcile FGTS, INSS, and payroll postings with the general ledger.
- Prepare annual financial statements, coordinate accounting book registrations with the Junta Comercial, and support monthly reporting packs and IFRS or US GAAP reporting conversions.
- Respond to Receita Federal notifications and information requests while maintaining organized client files and meeting recurring compliance deadlines.
- Communicate directly with international clients and referral partners in English to explain Brazilian compliance requirements, filing status, and deliverables.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Ciências Contábeis) from an accredited Brazilian university.
- Active CRC registration (Conselho Regional de Contabilidade).
- At least 3 years of experience in Brazilian accounting and tax compliance, preferably within professional services or outsourced accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of the SPED environment, Lucro Real, Lucro Presumido, and Brazilian indirect tax obligations.
- Hands-on experience with Brazilian accounting software such as Domínio, Alterdata, TOTVS, or SAP and relevant Receita Federal platforms.
- Fluent Portuguese and professional-level English, both written and spoken.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple client deliverables against fixed monthly and annual deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting global EOR, PEO, or multi-country expansion service providers.
- Experience working with foreign-owned Brazilian entities and non-resident shareholders.
- Familiarity with IFRS or US GAAP reporting and conversion for foreign parent companies.
- Working Spanish proficiency in addition to Portuguese and English.
- Experience with the Brazilian indirect tax reform transition, including CBS and IBS.
