Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer to support the design, implementation, integration, and operation of complex IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions.

The role covers the complete lifecycle of modern IT solutions, from requirements engineering and architecture design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational optimization.

The position combines requirements engineering, solution and architecture design, technical implementation, testing, data migration, application support, project management, and agile team coordination. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, technical teams, developers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support requirements management and requirements engineering.
• Elicit, document, validate, and manage requirements.
• Develop architecture designs in accordance with defined architecture guidelines.
• Develop solution designs covering usability, reporting, and system-specific functionalities.
• Prepare effort estimates and project schedules based on solution designs.
• Implement technical solutions based on approved solution designs.
• Perform different types of software testing, including:
• Unit testing
• Black-box testing
• Integration testing
• Acceptance testing
• Support integration and acceptance tests.
• Prepare and execute technical implementations in production environments.
• Support data migration activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including:
• Architecture concepts
• Implementation documentation
• Test cases
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support.
• Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Develop and implement workarounds and technical solutions.
• Ensure knowledge transfer and enable colleagues to act as technical representatives for developed solutions.
• Ensure compliance with defined quality-assurance measures, including four-eyes principles during code reviews.
• Lead sub-projects and technical project activities.
• Support the coordination and technical leadership of development teams.
• Apply agile methodologies in the project environment.
• Support self-organizing teams and improve collaboration within an agile environment.
• Take responsibility for assigned technical tasks and coordinate communication with relevant stakeholders.

IT Service Management & Platform Environment

The role involves working with enterprise IT Service Management platforms supporting ITIL-based processes and business requirements.

Experience with platforms such as Service Management solutions, enterprise asset/service management systems, or comparable ITSM platforms is highly relevant.

Requirements

Education & Professional Experience

Candidates should have:

• A successfully completed Bachelor's degree in:
• Computer Science
• Business Informatics
• Information Technology
• Or a comparable discipline

or

• Relevant vocational training, such as:
• IT Specialist for Application Development
• Comparable IT qualification

In addition:

• At least 7 years of professional experience in IT architecture and/or software development.

IT Architecture & Requirements Engineering

• At least 2 years of practical experience in IT architecture.
• Experience creating high-level concepts and architecture designs based on business and technical requirements.
• At least 2 years of experience in requirements engineering, including:
• Requirements elicitation
• Requirements analysis and detailing
• Requirements documentation
• Requirements validation
• Coordination of requirements with customers

Software Development

• At least 2 years of experience in software development within an ITSM or comparable enterprise application environment.
• Experience creating detailed technical specifications.
• Experience with effort estimation and scheduling based on technical specifications.
• Experience implementing technical solutions.
• Knowledge of data and workflow management.

Testing

• At least 2 years of experience in Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
• Experience developing test cases.
• Experience performing:
• Unit tests
• Integration tests
• Acceptance tests
• Experience documenting and managing test results.

Agile & Project Leadership

• At least 2 years of experience leading sub-projects and/or employees in an agile IT environment.
• Strong knowledge of agile methodologies.
• Experience supporting self-organizing development teams.
• Experience coordinating and technically guiding development teams.
• Scrum Master experience or comparable agile leadership experience is advantageous.

IT Service Management

• ITIL Foundation v3 or higher certification required.
• Practical understanding of IT Service Management processes and ITIL principles.

Project Management

• PRINCE2 certification required.
• Practical experience in project management and coordination.

Tools

Practical experience with:

• Jira
• Confluence
• Microsoft Office
• ITSM / ALM platforms
• Requirements and documentation tools

Experience with enterprise ITSM platforms is highly desirable.

Languages

• German: C1
• English: B1

Language proficiency should correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) unless German is the candidate's native language.
