Project / Department Overview

The role is intended for an experienced Senior Project Manager who will take responsibility for leading IT projects in the infrastructure environment. The position covers the full project lifecycle, from project setup through planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and successful completion.

The Senior Project Manager will ensure that assigned projects are delivered in line with defined time, cost, and quality objectives. The role requires strong project leadership, stakeholder management, operational task coordination, risk and change management, budget control, resource management, and structured communication across customers, operations, suppliers, field service, and internal project teams.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Lead and manage IT infrastructure projects from setup to completion.
• Ensure achievement of project objectives regarding time, cost, scope, and quality.
• Create project plans and continuously maintain transparent project reporting.
• Ensure compliance with project-specific implementation requirements and governance standards.
• Independently define, structure, coordinate, and follow up on work packages.
• Coordinate effort estimations and service descriptions.
• Prepare data analyses and decision documents for project stakeholders and management.
• Act as the central point of contact for customers, operations, suppliers, and field service.
• Actively manage stakeholder expectations and relationships.
• Plan, prepare, and conduct internal and external workshops.
• Identify and coordinate project dependencies.
• Monitor project risks and initiate appropriate mitigation measures.
• Manage project changes and ensure structured change management.
• Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
• Conduct lessons learned and support continuous improvement of work methods and project processes.
• Manage project resources and support effective capacity planning.
• Ensure structured communication and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Escalate issues where required and support resolution of project conflicts or disruptions.

Required Qualifications

The candidate should have:

• Strong knowledge of common project management standards.
• Valid project management certification, at least equivalent to IPMA Level D.
• ITIL basic knowledge or practical experience in IT service management.
• ITIL Foundation certification is desirable.
• Completed degree in business administration, IT, or a comparable field.
• Alternatively, completed commercial vocational training or recognized IT-related vocational training combined with relevant professional experience.
• Without a degree, at least 6 years of relevant professional experience is required.
• Good knowledge of project management tools, including Jira or comparable tools.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Practical knowledge of MS Project.

Required Professional Experience

The candidate should have:

• At least 6 years of experience leading IT projects with a project budget above EUR 5 million.
• At least 6 years of experience in IT projects with a focus on:
• IT infrastructure
• Communication technology
• Migration of IT systems
• At least 4 years of experience as a project team member in IT projects with a focus on:
• Data centers
• Data center infrastructure
• At least 6 years of practical experience as a project manager in IT projects using:
• Classical project management methods
• Hybrid project management methods
• Agile project management methods
• Experience using project management tools such as Jira or comparable tools.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and MS Project.
• Experience preparing project plans, reports, decision documents, effort estimations, and service descriptions.
• Experience in budget monitoring, cost control, resource management, risk management, and change management.
• Experience coordinating customers, operations, suppliers, field service, and internal delivery teams.

Required Tool Experience

The candidate should have practical experience with:

• Jira or comparable project management tools
• Microsoft Office
• MS Project
• Project planning and reporting tools
• Tools used for risk, change, resource, and project controlling

Language Requirements

• German: C1 level according to CEFR.
• English: B1 level according to CEFR.

Proof of language skills may be provided through a CV, certificate, reference, self-declaration, or equivalent evidence. Native speakers are exempt from providing separate proof for the respective language.

Project Reference Requirements

If project references are required, they should include:

• Industry
• Project title
• Short project description, including classification as internal or external project
• Performance period in month/year format
• FTE allocation
• Detailed description of the candidate's responsibilities and activities in the project

Only project references with a duration of at least 6 months and an allocation of at least 0.6 FTE should be considered.

Additional Information

The expected remote work share is approximately 40% on average. On-site presence is expected for approximately 60% of working time at the designated office location. Business travel may be required and can be carried out by private car, rental car, train, or other public transport in accordance with applicable travel guidelines.
