Role Focus: Configuration Management & IT Service Integration

Role Overview

The Expert Business Integration is responsible for planning, implementing, and optimizing configuration management processes within a complex IT service and transformation environment. The role focuses on establishing and managing configuration management structures, ensuring compliance with IT service management standards, and supporting digital transformation initiatives in mission-critical operational domains.

This position combines configuration governance, ITIL-based service management expertise, database modeling, and internal project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) in accordance with ITIL process frameworks
• Set up and manage configuration management structures, product libraries, and access permissions within the system
• Initialize and administer product configurations based on formal assignments
• Monitor and analyze IT service performance and process metrics; define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Continuously improve configuration management systems, processes, and documentation
• Independently execute subject-matter tasks and lead internal projects in strategically relevant areas
• Support and advise project leads in configuration management-related disciplines
• Ensure alignment between configuration processes and overall IT service lifecycle management

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Informatics, or a comparable field
• Alternatively, relevant vocational training with extended professional experience in configuration management
• ITIL Foundation certification (or equivalent)
• German language proficiency at C1 level (CEFR)
• English language proficiency at B1 level (CEFR)

Professional Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in configuration management (after university degree)
  or
  Minimum 5 years of experience (after vocational training)
• At least 2 years of experience in IT service management process landscapes according to ITIL standards
• Experience in database modeling (e.g., SQL)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specification and concept development related to configuration management
• Proven project experience in IT service or digital transformation environments

All required experience must reflect continuous and substantial professional activity within the relevant subject area.
