Flight Control & GNC Engineer – Unmanned Systems
About the job Flight Control & GNC Engineer – Unmanned Systems
We are a Stuttgart-based defence technology company developing autonomous unmanned systems for military and security applications. The Flight Control & GNC Engineer joins a small engineering team responsible for the guidance, navigation, and control stack of a drone interceptor platform. The role covers target position estimation from sensor and camera data, trajectory planning and optimisation, and closed-loop flight control through to impact. Work is algorithm-focused but close to hardware, with direct involvement in simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and field trials.
Position: Flight Control & GNC Engineer – Unmanned Systems
Type: Full-time/100% Remote
Tasks:
- Develop algorithms for target position estimation and state prediction from sensor fusion and camera data;
- Design and optimise intercept trajectories under kinematic and dynamic constraints;
- Implement and tune closed-loop flight control algorithms for trajectory tracking;
- Develop and validate visual servoing approaches for terminal guidance;
- Build and maintain simulation environments for algorithm development and validation;
- Integrate GNC outputs into the onboard software stack via defined interfaces;
- Collaborate closely with the Embedded Systems and AI teams on end-to-end system integration;
- Document algorithms, parameters, and test results
