Location:Bonn, Meckenheim (You can choose one of the two locations)

Project Environment

The role supports a large-scale programme focused on the development and establishment of data centre infrastructure and related IT services.

Within a major sub-project, the Senior Project Manager will coordinate two teams responsible for concepts and technical designs while also managing the processes required for the development and operationalisation of IT services.

The position requires close coordination with other sub-projects, programme management, customers and technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end planning, execution, control and completion of medium-sized and complex IT projects.

Lead and coordinate all project members assigned to the area of responsibility.

  • Apply classical, agile and hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Manage two teams responsible for concepts and technical designs within a data centre programme.
  • Ensure the timely implementation of requirements in coordination with programme management, other sub-projects and the customer.
  • Manage dependencies, priorities, milestones, resources and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with and continuous improvement of the IT service development process.
  • Create, maintain and monitor project plans, schedules and work packages.
  • Provide regular project and programme reports, including reporting to senior and executive management.
  • Establish transparent governance, reporting and decision-making structures.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk, issue and quality management.
  • Identify project risks, define mitigation measures and track their implementation.
  • Plan, conduct and document lessons-learned workshops.
  • Translate lessons learned into practical improvements for current and future projects.
  • Coordinate internal teams, external service providers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Resolve conflicts, disruptions and delivery issues in a structured and solution-oriented manner.
  • Ensure that complex technical and organisational matters are communicated appropriately to different stakeholder groups.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed degree, vocational qualification or comparable professional background relevant to IT, project management or a related field.
  • Valid project management certification equivalent to IPMA Level D or higher.
  • Valid Scrum Master II certification or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Valid ITIL Foundation certification, version 3 or higher.
  • Very good knowledge of established project management methods.
  • Strong knowledge of classical, agile and hybrid project delivery approaches.
  • German language skills at CEFR C1 level.
  • English language skills at CEFR B1 level or higher.
  • Native speakers do not need to provide separate language certification.

Required Professional Experience

  • At least five years of experience leading complex projects with:
  • A duration exceeding one year.
  • At least 20 project team members.
  • At least five years of professional experience in digitalisation projects within a defence-related or comparable public-sector environment.
  • At least five years of practical experience as a project manager in IT projects, applying classical, hybrid or agile methodologies.
  • At least one year of relevant experience as a Scrum Master in agile or hybrid projects.
  • At least two years of experience in IT projects focused on data centres or data centre infrastructure.
  • At least two years of experience in a responsible project role involving the development of IT services.
  • Demonstrable experience using project management and collaboration tools, including:
  • Jira or a comparable tool.
  • Microsoft Project.
  • Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

The required periods of experience should represent continuous and substantive work in the respective subject area. Occasional or isolated involvement is not sufficient.

Working Conditions

  • Approximately 70% of the work may be performed remotely or through mobile working arrangements.
  • Business travel of up to 30% of working time may be required.
  • Travel may be undertaken by car, rental vehicle, train or other public transport in accordance with the applicable travel policy.
  • The candidate must be willing and eligible to undergo an SÜ2 security screening.
  • Candidate profiles must include nationality information.
  • Applicable security-related nationality and country-list restrictions must be observed.

Project Reference Requirements

Where project references are submitted, each reference should contain:

  • Industry.
  • Project title.
  • Brief project description.
  • Assignment period in month/year format.
  • Candidate's level of involvement in FTE.
  • Detailed description of the candidate's responsibilities and activities.

A project reference should normally cover an assignment period of at least three months with a minimum involvement of 0.5 FTE.
