Focus: 2nd Level Support for VS-NfD-approved VPN Solutions
Role Overview
The Senior System Administrator (P7) operates within a security-critical IT service environment, providing 2nd Level support
for VPN solutions approved up to the classification level VS-NfD.
The role focuses on independent fault analysis and resolution via remote access, with a primary emphasis on secure VPN hardware components and optional support of corresponding software solutions.
Project / Operational Environment
- Operation of security-approved VPN infrastructures for governmental and security-sensitive customers.
- Support of VPN solutions classified up to VS-NfD, including dedicated hardware and software components.
- Integration into a multi-site service organization with structured team responsibilities.
- Assignment within a specialized team responsible for the support of VPN hardware products.
- Partial remote work capability combined with on-site presence as required.
Key Responsibilities
2nd Level Incident Support
- Independent, telephone-based handling of incoming incidents within the 2nd Level Support framework.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of VPN-related incidents in both customer and internal operational environments.
- Remote diagnostics and fault isolation using secure remote maintenance tools.
VPN Operations & Administration
- Operation, administration, and troubleshooting of VPN solutions in compliance with applicable security regulations.
- Support of VPN hardware components as well as associated secure connectivity software.
- Installation and configuration of VPN systems in accordance with defined security policies and technical standards.
Change & Service Management Support
- Support in the planning, evaluation, and implementation of changes to IT services.
- Participation in structured change processes to ensure service stability and compliance.
- Contribution to service operation activities following ITIL principles.
Testing, Quality & Documentation
- Participation in test and quality assurance activities in the role of tester.
- Validation of VPN solutions after changes, updates, or configuration adjustments.
- Maintenance, review, and continuous improvement of technical documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Professional Qualifications
- Completed vocational training in an IT-related profession.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in an IT operations environment.
- Proven experience in Service Operations within a delivery organization.
Technical Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in:
- 2nd Level Incident Management
- Operation, administration, or troubleshooting of VPN solutions
- Administration in Windows operating system environments
- Experience working in accordance with ITIL processes (ITIL Foundation knowledge or equivalent).
Language Skills (CEFR)
- German: C1
- English: B1

- Clear and structured verbal expression, especially in customer-facing situations.

Special Requirements
- Valid security clearance (SÜ1) or eligibility to obtain one.
- Willingness to travel nationally (approx. 20%).
- Flexibility to work at different locations within Germany if required.
