About the Role

NAXCON seeks a Remote Sensing and Earth Observation specialist with proven expertise in satellite data processing and product validation. You will guide the implementation of complex data processing algorithms and serve as the scientific authority for algorithm development and validation activities. Your deep understanding of remote sensing principles, data product standards, and processing methodologies is essential to programme success.

Key Responsibilities

• Specify data processing requirements based on mission objectives and scientific use cases 
• Define processing algorithms and validation methodologies for satellite data analysis 
• Establish accuracy thresholds and quality acceptance criteria for deliverable products 
• Oversee algorithm implementation and validate results against reference outputs 
• Provide scientific guidance on data product levels, formats, and quality standards 
• Document algorithm performance, accuracy analysis, and validation results 
• Mentor engineers on remote sensing concepts and best practices 
• Contribute to technical specifications and design documentation

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Remote Sensing, Geophysics, Atmospheric Science, or related field
• Documented hands-on experience processing satellite Earth Observation data at multiple product levels 
• In-depth knowledge of satellite data processing chains and algorithm implementation 
• Demonstrated expertise in radiometric and geometric calibration, data validation, and product quality assessment 
• Understanding of data product standards and specifications for space-based observations 
• Familiarity with processing algorithm design and performance optimization

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with ESA or international space agency data products 
• Knowledge of advanced processing techniques (atmospheric correction, geometric transformation) 
• Experience with machine learning applied to remote sensing analysis 
• Background in satellite mission operations or data processing pipeline development 
• Familiarity with Earth system monitoring or climate-related applications
