Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Developer / Database Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Java-based web application development using Apache Wicket.
The role focuses on building, extending, and maintaining data-driven web applications with complex backend logic and relational databases.

The ideal candidate has recent reference projects (within the last three years) involving Apache Wicket web applications and is able to share and describe these references.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, development, and maintenance of web applications using Apache Wicket
• Implementation of backend logic and data-driven application workflows
• Design and optimization of relational database schemas
• Development of core application features (data management, workflows, business logic)
• Implementation of user management and role-based access control
• Development of data import/export, reporting, and structured data outputs
• Ensuring secure, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Collaboration with project leads and distributed development teams in a fully remote setup
• Contribution to technical concepts, architecture decisions, and best practices

Mandatory Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in:
  • Web application backend development and/or
  • Database development
• Proven hands-on experience with Apache Wicket in real-world projects
• At least one reference project within the last three years involving:
  • Apache Wicket web application development
  • Description of scope, complexity, and responsibilities
• Strong experience with:
  • Java-based backend development
  • Relational databases (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL or equivalent)
• Experience implementing:
  • User and permission management
  • Reporting, KPIs, and structured data outputs
