Position: Senior Service Manager – Data Centre Infrastructure Services

Project Environment
The role is responsible for ordering, provisioning and operating infrastructure services, with a particular focus on server operations and data centre infrastructure.
The Senior Service Manager coordinates IT infrastructure requirements with projects, supports procurement activities, prepares service and hardware catalogues, and plans hardware-refresh initiatives through to formal acceptance by the responsible service owner.
The position carries end-to-end responsibility for assigned services or service components. It coordinates internal delivery teams and external suppliers of hardware, software and maintenance services, monitors service quality and initiates corrective actions where delivery deviates from agreed requirements.
The role also covers change management, incident and escalation management, special customer configurations, service automation and management reporting.
Responsibilities
- Assume end-to-end responsibility for assigned infrastructure services or service components.
- Ensure contractual fulfilment and reliable delivery of the services under responsibility.
- Coordinate all internal teams and external suppliers required for service delivery.
- Manage suppliers of hardware, software, infrastructure and maintenance services.
- Identify deviations in service performance and initiate appropriate corrective measures.
- Coordinate IT infrastructure requirements with projects, customers and service owners.
- Translate technical and operational requirements into service requests and procurement packages.
- Prepare service catalogues, shopping baskets and procurement-related documentation.
- Support procurement processes from initial request through delivery and acceptance.
- Plan and coordinate hardware-refresh and infrastructure-modernisation projects.
- Prepare refresh schedules, replacement plans, migration activities and acceptance procedures.
- Coordinate the installation, configuration and handover of server and data centre infrastructure.
- Ensure formal acceptance of delivered services and infrastructure components.
- Create, plan and coordinate changes throughout the complete change lifecycle.
- Monitor change implementation, dependencies, risks, approvals and completion status.
- Ensure that changes are documented, controlled and aligned with service-management processes.
- Manage incidents and escalations within the assigned functional area.
- Coordinate technical and organisational resolution activities involving multiple teams and suppliers.
- Support root-cause analysis and the implementation of sustainable corrective actions.
- Coordinate special configurations and non-standard infrastructure requirements with customers.
- Evaluate the operational, commercial and security implications of special configurations.
- Contribute to service-automation and process-improvement initiatives.
- Support financial planning for the assigned services.
- Initiate newly commissioned services and additional service components.
- Monitor service-related costs, budgets, procurements and financial commitments.
- Collect, analyse and prepare operational and commercial service data.
- Provide data for contractually agreed customer reports.
- Coordinate reporting activities with service-delivery and technical teams.
- Analyse internal reporting data and derive service-improvement measures.
- Prepare status reports, service-performance reports and management briefings.
- Report service status, risks, incidents, changes and financial developments to senior management.
- Maintain service documentation, acceptance records, change records and governance information.
Required Qualifications
The candidate must meet one of the following qualification routes:
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline.
- Recognised vocational qualification in an IT profession.
- Alternatively, at least ten years of professional experience in an IT environment, preferably in IT operations or project management.
The following additional qualifications are required:
- Valid ITIL Foundation certification, version 3 or 4.
- Demonstrable experience with Scrum and agile working methods.
- Experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, developer-team member or in a comparable agile role.
- German language skills at CEFR C1 level.
- English language skills at CEFR B1 level or higher.
Required Professional Experience
The candidate should have:
- At least seven years of experience in planning, procuring and implementing data centre infrastructure.
- At least seven years of experience with server operations and server hardware components.
- At least seven years of experience in IT service management and the management of infrastructure services.
- At least five years of experience managing large projects with a duration of more than one year and teams of at least 20 project members.
- At least seven years of experience in infrastructure operations and the procurement of infrastructure components.
- At least three years of experience working within complex organisations with more than 5,000 employees.
- At least three years of experience applying agile working methods.
- At least two years of experience using SAP throughout the complete procurement process, from shopping-basket creation to service acceptance.
- At least two years of experience with security-sensitive operational procedures and protected information.
- At least two years of experience with public-sector procedures or similarly regulated governmental environments.

Working Conditions
- Approximately 40–80% of the work may be performed remotely, depending on project and operational requirements.
