About the Role

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving market entry, development, and expansion particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets. This role is responsible for identifying growth

opportunities, mitigating risks, and securing long-term, profitable market presence through strong RTM deployment and strategic partnerships.

The BDM acts as a strategic enabler who bridges cross-functional teams (SCM, Product, Campaign, Commercial) to ensure operational alignment and flawless market execution. While GTM elements may support execution, the primary focus of this role is Route-to-Market deployment, commercial scalability, and business sustain ability not marketing strategy.


What You'll Do

  1. Market Development & Strategy Execution
    • Shape and execute market entry, deployment, and expansion strategies.
    • Conduct in-depth market studies to evaluate consumer demand, competitive threats, pricing landscapes, and regulatory conditions.
    • Propose and adapt commercial strategies aligned with evolving market realities.
    • Identify new channels, segments, and business opportunities to accelerate penetration.
  1. Route-to-Market (RTM) Deployment & GTM Optimization
    • Develop and implement RTM models by market tier (distributor, sub-distributor, wholesaler, modern trade, e-commerce).
    • Design distributor frameworks: margin structures, target KPIs, incentive schemes, logistics flow, credit terms.
    • Ensure supply chain readiness (forecasting, inventory planning, order cycle).
    • Monitor distributor performance and recommend corrective actions to maximize reach, cost efficiency, and sell-out velocity.
    • Support GTM execution to ensure sell-through (activation plans, POS support, pricing alignment).
  1. Partnership & Network Building
    • Build and manage partnerships with distributors, retailers, and key accounts.
    • Negotiate agreements that secure long-term positioning and mutual profitability.
    • Develop joint business plans with partners to drive market penetration and sustainability.
  1. Financial & Business Analysis
    • Develop and evaluate financial models including ROI, profitability, and risk assessments.
    • Support pricing strategies, margin optimization, and investment decision-making.
    • Provide scenario planning and sensitivity analyses for leadership approval.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as the bridge between Supply Chain, Product Development, Marketing, and Sales teams.
    • Ensure seamless alignment of operational execution with strategic priorities.
    • Propose legal frameworks and safeguards to the Legal Team for initiatives requiring regulatory or contractual protection.
  1. Performance Tracking & Reporting
    • Define, monitor, and track KPIs across sales, market development, and distribution.
    • Provide data-driven insights and structured reports to management.
    • Recommend corrective actions and continuous improvement strategies.


What You'll Bring


  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

  • 5-8 years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Commercial Strategy (preferably FMCG, vape, or consumer products).

  • Proven track record in driving Sell-In, Sell-Through, and Sell-Out success.

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills with commercial acumen.

  • Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities across cross-functional teams.

  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to execute in fast-paced environments.
