Senior DevOps Engineer (Remote from Germany, Portugal, Spain or Bulgaria)

I am looking for a seasoned DevOps Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes and Terraform to join a German start-up that works on modernizing and digitalizing automotive manufacturing. The company creates an engineering intelligence platform that helps develop, produce and maintain highly complex mechatronic products, such as passenger cars or aircraft, more efficiently and sustainably.

This is a remote role, but you have to be located in one of the following countries: Germany (preferably), Portugal, Spain, or Bulgaria.

In this role, you will join an agile, cross-functional team, working closely alongside Backend, QA, and internal stakeholders. You will balance hands-on customer deployments and continuous enhancement of their Kubernetes-driven infrastructure making a direct, tangible impact every day.

Your input will ensure robust and seamless operations, supporting clients who operate in demanding, high-compliance environments.

In particular, you will: 

• Deploy and establish robust Kubernetes-based infrastructure, customized to diverse client requirements.
• Directly engage with customers, adapting solutions for both cloud and on-prem environments, clearly navigating complex compliance and security requirements.
• Automate deployment and operational workflows, optimizing CI/CD pipelines with carefully chosen tools and strategies.
• Conduct code and infrastructure reviews, offering actionable insights to improve performance, reliability, and security.
• Efficiently resolve technical challenges, manage timely software updates, and implement dependable solutions.
• Provide technical insights during project planning, emphasizing secure deployment methodologies and best practices in infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and reporting systems to guarantee stability in client and internal environments.
• Champion a culture of excellence in DevOps practices, collaboration, and proactive communication across teams.

You have:

• 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer, or equivalent role, ideally in security-sensitive or compliance-driven environments.
• Hands-on customer-facing deployment experience, including both cloud and on-prem infrastructure setups.
• Deep Kubernetes proficiency, building environments from scratch, and managing hybrid or multi-cloud scenarios with Terraform.
• Strong scripting capabilities (Python, Bash) and hands-on expertise with secure and compliant CI/CD processes.
• Experience managing critical database environments with complex migration strategies.
• Solid Linux, networking, security, and Git version control skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in cross-functional, compliance-aware teams.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with Golang, Rust, C++, or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with distributed systems.
• Experience implementing highly available and fault-tolerant infrastructures.
• Strong project management skills and effective use of collaboration tools.
