James Beard award-winning chef Paul Berglund is looking for great staff to help open his new Ada restaurant, Myrth, coming mid-June. Berglunds new restaurant will be driven and inspired by the seasons and the food grown by our West Michigan farmers. This will be a gathering place, instilled with a casual sophistication and warm Midwestern hospitality. Above all, it will be focused on the crafts of food, drink, and hospitality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and uphold Myrths Purpose and Principles. Carry yourself in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  • Provide all functions associated with bartending, including order taking, POS entry, clearing the bar, resetting the bar, wine service, beer service, cocktail service, cash handling, etc.
  • Know, understand, and carefully execute all of Myrths service standards.

  • Know, understand, and diligently uphold Myrths high standards and procedures for food safety and sanitation.

  • Know, understand, and uphold Myrths high standards for alcohol service.

  • Quickly and accurately execute cocktails to Myrth specifications.

  • Prep and maintain clean, safe, and well-organized workstations.

  • Thoroughly clean workstations, work surfaces, equipment, floors, and any other items inside and outside of the restaurant, as necessary.

  • Maintain bar and restaurant equipment, as required.

  • Build strong, lasting relationships with guests.

  • Build strong, professional, and respectful relationships with coworkers.

  • Complete daily opening and closing procedures.

  • Complete weekly cleaning tasks.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of experience in customer service, restaurant industry preferred.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits.

  • A warm, friendly, and positive personality.

  • A passion for hospitality and the restaurant industry as a whole.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The restaurant environment can be loud and fast-paced, with many hazards such as equipment, machinery, sharp objects, hot surfaces, slippery floors, stairs, and ladders. Exposure to chemicals, fire, gasses, odors, and extreme temperatures is possible.

A Bartender is required to:

  • Walk, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods of time.

  • Use arms, hands, and fingers to grasp, lift, and control objects of varying sizes and weights.

  • Use legs, back, arms, and hands to lift and move heavy objects.

  • Use hands for repetitive motions such as pouring, stirring, or shaking.

  • Visually inspect items using close and distance vision.

  • Inspect and evaluate items using taste and smell.

  • Speak clearly and understandably. Hear and understand the speech of another person.
