Catering Cook

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Catering Cook with a passion for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals to properly fuel elite athletes. The ideal candidate will be organized and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They must be resilient and reliable, while also demonstrating the ability to build a strong community culture in a residential setting and make sound, thoughtful decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct inventory of all kitchen items, including but not limited to equipment, utensils, supplies, and food products.
• Collaborate with the director and/or general manager in menu planning and ordering food and supplies to ensure appropriate stock levels before welcoming student-athletes in September.
• Prepare the kitchen for the arrival of student-athletes in September, including ensuring all equipment and utensils are in good working order, the kitchen is clean and sanitized, and the workspace is set up for efficient operation.
• Promptly report any repair and maintenance needs for kitchen equipment or tools to building maintenance and/or the Student Life Director to ensure completion before the student-athletes arrive in September.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in cooking and/or the restaurant industry
• Deep knowledge of food handling procedures
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact sensitively and courteously with student-athletes and staff
• Ability to foster an inclusive community for student-athletes to live, learn, and thrive
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Understanding of student-athlete needs and experiences
• Caring, energetic personality with a love for working with teens
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a multicultural environment
• Familiarity with social media technologies and programs is a plus
• Must provide a current criminal background check and child and adult abuse registry check
