About the job Lab and Deployment Technician
NOTE: This is a 12-month contract assignment.
Job Summary:
The MUOS Lab & Deployment Tech will act as a leader and mentor to new technicians in the support of engineering activities such as designing, testing, checking-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. This may entail performing the following:
- Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics, and understand the necessary interfaces
- Performs complex system level troubleshooting to component level
- Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions
- Lays out, builds, calibrates, adjusts, installs and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems
Responsibilities:
- Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
- Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems
- Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics, and understand the necessary interfaces
- Will be required to support Deployment activities at customer sites (CONUS and International)
- Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions
- Identifies and helps prototype new preventative maintenance tasks
- Will be expected to lead, direct, and organize Technician work
- Works with associates in other departments and understands cross-functional relationships
- May be required to support development of test specifications and procedures

- Ability to use computers and software applications to assist in job execution, with special focus on Excel
- Mechanically inclined and able to maintain, repair, and install equipment that is part of a live and operational system
- Capable of working remotely with limited local support
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
