Our client a globally recognised manufacturer in the automotive sector, with operations across more than 40 countries. We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Commodity Buyer to join our Purchasing team. This is a full-time, on-site role. What We Are Looking For

  • A degree or diploma in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a related commercial field is an advantage.
  • Fully computer literate.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a purchasing role (plant or programme purchasing preferred).
  • A background in technical, manufacturing, or automotive environments is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and gets things done.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with inhouse purchasing systems is a definite advantage.

What You Will Do

  • Purchase and order all required equipment, consumables, materials, and related items.
  • Work closely with the Finance Department to co-ordinate orders and payments.
  • Source and procure production and maintenance tools, equipment, and consumables.
  • Manage supplier relationships and track their performance to improve quality, service, and cost.
  • Negotiate and put in place frame contracts to ensure price stability and value for money.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and lead relevant projects.
  • Create purchase orders, confirm orders with suppliers, and follow up on deliveries.
  • Take part in demand planning and forecasting to support future tenders.
  • Handle day-to-day requests for quotations (RFQs) based on internal specifications.
  • Support the sourcing team and head office with procurement activities as needed.
  • Create and maintain system part numbers for accurate business planning.
  • Make sure all purchasing policies and procedures are followed; report any irregularities.
  • Manage the procurement of capital expenditure, commodities, spare parts, and services across relevant global plants.
  • Handle complex procurement challenges with independence and sound judgement.
  • Maintain and update the supplier database.
  • Provide general administrative and purchasing support as required.
