Role Overview:

We are looking for a Managing Editor to lead our editorial team and oversee the production of all content. As a Managing Editor, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest quality of content and ensuring that our publication continues to grow and thrive in the competitive gaming industry.

- Business-level English

Working Hours/Location:

40+ hours per week
Remote*
*You will occasionally be required to meet and work with the founder from a shared office location in Tokyo, likely 2-4 times per month.

Responsibilities:

- Write video game content (how-to guides, walkthroughs, editorials, etc.)
- Manage and oversee the editorial team to ensure timely and accurate content production
- Vet and hire freelance writers
- Develop and enforce editorial guidelines and standards
- Coordinate with writers, editors, and contributors to plan and execute content strategies
- Monitor gaming trends and industry news to guide content direction
- Work closely with the SEO and marketing teams to maximize content reach and
engagement
- Edit and approve articles, guides, and other materials before publication

Additional Duties:

As the Managing Editor, you'll also be expected to train other writers to:
- Research and write articles according to our style guide, tone, and other copy guidelines
- Utilize SEO tools to help guide the creation of articles according to the audiences needs
- Take screenshots and learn basic image editing skills to add images to articles
- Ensure articles meet on-page SEO standards

Candidate Requirements:

- Have a deep passion for video games and be good at them!
- Must be based in Tokyo or surrounding area
- Proven experience in editorial roles within digital media, preferably in gaming or
entertainment
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Deep understanding of the video game industry and its community
- Proficiency in SEO and online content strategy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Must have your own computer, headset, and a reliable internet connection to work remotely
