Acerca del puesto Country Finance Manager - Portugal
Reporting directly to the CFO, the mission of this role will be to take full responsibility for the accounting, financial and tax operations of the company in Portugal, ensuring accuracy, compliance and strong financial governance. The Finance Manager will oversee financial reporting, treasury management, tax compliance and budgeting processes, while supporting business decision-making through financial analysis and KPI monitoring.
The position will play a key role in strengthening financial ownership at the local level, improving visibility of financial performance and supporting the business in achieving its growth objectives. The role requires a hands-on professional capable of managing both operational and strategic finance responsibilities within an international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of accounting and financial operations under Portuguese accounting standards, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and provide financial reporting to Group stakeholders in line with internal requirements.
- Manage treasury activities including cash-flow monitoring, liquidity planning and working capital optimization.
- Oversee tax processes including VAT, corporate tax and local compliance requirements, ensuring coordination with external advisors where required.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis processes, providing insights to management for decision-making.
- Develop and monitor key financial KPIs to improve financial visibility and business performance.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to provide financial support and analytical insights for operational and strategic decisions.
- Manage cost control initiatives and monitor operational expenses to ensure alignment with budgeted targets.
- Support contract management with clients and suppliers from a financial perspective.
- Coordinate with external accounting, audit and tax partners, ensuring compliance with local and international requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, governance policies and audit requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, systems and reporting structures.
- Support administrative and general services functions as required within the local organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in accounting and finance roles, preferably within an international environment.
- Knowledge and experience managing and reporting in accordance with IFRS, not only under Portuguese accounting standards.
- Being certified as an accountant will be an asset: Certified Accountant.
- Experience as Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Accounting Manager with full ownership of financial processes.
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese accounting and tax regulations.
- Professional certification allowing signing of accounts in Portugal will be highly valued.
- Fluent English required.
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite or similar platforms.
- Advanced MS Office and Excel skills.
