Role Purpose:

The Sr Engineer, Onshore Instrument & Control leads, manages, and assures the engineering, integration, and execution of all Instrumentation, Control, and Safety systems for the Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF), ensuring compliance with project requirements, international standards, and Indonesian regulations, and supporting safe, reliable, and operable facilities from FEED through commissioning and handover.
The role requires technical expertise in I&C systems, including metering, safety systems, and digitalization initiatives, as well as proven project execution capabilities.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Act as discipline lead for Instrumentation & Control engineering for the ORF project, ensuring design integrity and consistency with FEED intent.
  • Define and review I&C philosophies, specifications, datasheets, layouts, and deliverables for all ORF systems including metering, ICSS, SIS, HIPPS, and FGS.
  • Ensure proper integration of onshore I&C systems with offshore facilities and existing brownfield systems at Arun.
  • Lead and support HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and LOPA activities from an I&C and functional safety perspective.
  • Review and approve vendor packages, FAT/SAT procedures, and ensure compliance with IEC, API, and project specifications.
  • Provide technical SME during construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and start‑up, including troubleshooting and loop validation.
  • Support interface management related to I&C scope, including battery limits, tie‑ins, and integration with other project packages.
  • Ensure I&C systems are delivered fit‑for‑purpose, operable, maintainable, and ready for safe introduction of hydrocarbons.


Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline, Master degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in upstream oil & gas projects.
  • Proven experience in integrated offshore field development projects involving both offshore production and onshore receiving facilities.
  • Strong track record across FEED to commissioning phases of EPCI projects.
  • Direct involvement in brownfield tie‑ins and live facility modifications is highly desirable.
  • Experiences in metering systems, ICSS, FGS, and control system architecture. 
  • Experience in control loop tuning, commissioning, and start-up of production facilities is advantage.

Skills:

  1. Knowledge
  • Strong technical knowledge on complex upstream oil and gas facilities.
  • Instrumentation and control systems for upstream gas facilities both onshore – offshore and greenfield – brownfield developments.
  • Strong knowledge of Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS), PLC, SIS, HIPPS, and Fire & Gas systems, fiscal and custody transfer metering systems.
  • Functional safety standards (IEC 61511 / 61508).
  • Applicable international codes and standards (IEC, API, ISA) and Indonesian regulatory requirements. 

2. Soft & Hard Skills

  • Fluent in English, oral and written. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skill to manage interface with other disciplines.
  • Discipline leadership and technical assurance.
  • Multidiscipline and interface coordination in EPCI projects.
  • Vendor and contractor technical evaluation.
  • FAT/SAT execution, commissioning, and start‑up support.
  • Risk‑based thinking and problem solving in brownfield environments.
