Brazil

Mubadala Capitals Brazil business has been active since 2011 and has built a diversified portfolio of private assets through the completion of several transactions including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, corporate carve-outs, bankruptcy workouts and other types of special situations. The Brazil team is based in Rio de Janeiro and supported by the Mubadala Capital offices.

Mubadala Capitals Brazil team employs an active investment approach, strategically designed to take advantage of attractive investment opportunities in situations of distress, while capitalizing on the teams unique experience in the local Brazilian market.

The investment strategy is anchored around the following key principles:

  • Emphasis on special situation investments across the capital structure, driven by financial strain, distress or complex situations.
  • Acquire high-quality businesses at a discount to their intrinsic value, creating a margin of safety at the closing of a transaction that reduce the dependency on Brazils economic cycles and currency while retaining the upside exposure associated with a growing economy.
  • Front-load risk into deal structuring, negotiation, and execution once a transaction is completed, the situation that created the initial distress, and therefore the discount to intrinsic value, is often resolved.
  • Use of a fundamental-driven investment strategy that focuses on financial improvements, value creation and opportunities to structure downside protection.

Mubadala Capitals Brazil team currently manages third-party capital on behalf of Mubadala and institutional investors. Investments in the country are in excess of $5,7bn including $2,5bn in third party capital vehicles

What will you be doing?

  • Develop strong relationship with finance team of Mubadala Capital and Mubadala Capital global ecosystem.
  • Support accounts payable, receivable, payroll (in collaboration with Human Capital), fixed assets, cash management, bank account reconciliations, general ledger, etc.
  • Liaise with tax, audit and legal as appropriate, and support audit, tax, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support annual audit, tax, and regulatory compliance processes for entities in Brazil and Luxembourg.
  • Support accounts payable and cash management.
  • Support Finance team as defined by line manager.

What are we looking for?

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Portuguese is required; however, flexibility may be considered for exceptional candidates who demonstrate remarkable performance in other key qualifications.
  • Enrolment in Brazilian Accountant or Business Degree is a must, preferred semesters are 4th and 5th.
  • Prior internship experience in accounting or finance is highly desirable.
  • Availability to work in the morning or afternoon.
  • Microsoft Office skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Should possess a strong work ethic and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest to work with a small group of investment professionals in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership and an entrepreneurial mindset.

The selection process

Given the importance of the role to the success of the business, we take our selection process seriously. You will first meet with an HC representative and if you progress will also be interviewed by team members as we ensure we test for both core technical skills and the ability to contribute effectively from a company culture perspective.
