A TYPICAL DAY:

  • Analyzes program requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
  • Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities.
  • Guides users and internal staff in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies. Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
  • Incorporates new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
  • Develops technical documentation. Develops system architecture and system design documentation. Proficient with DOORS and Magic Draw.
  • Develops math models and simulations to analyze system behavior, making data driven decisions to enhance systems performance.
  • Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
  • Coordinates activities between different multi-functional areas (electrical, mechanical, software, etc.) to optimize system level performance.
  • Assesses risks and performs system level criticality analyses to identify key performance parameters driving the design.
  • Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
  • Communicates with other program personnel, Government overseers, and senior executives. Produces presentations that are communicated to both technical and non-technical audiences.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ten (10) years experience in technical program management and/or system development team lead. At least 50% of experience shall be related to Ground Vehicle development and sustainment programs.
  • Five (5) years experience as a system engineer in programs that encompassed systems architecture, requirements analysis, design, production, integration, test, and transition to operations.
  • Five (5) years experience of system engineering in a Research & Development community environment.
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical discipline from an accredited college or university. May substitute 10 years relevant experience in lieu of a degree.



ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Visionary and strategic; ability to work with government and industry technical directors to drive innovation and efficiencies throughout a project.
  • Provide technical design and architectural leadership, including documenting and diagramming the logical, physical, and process views.
  • Define program strategy with respect to technology domain standards with design goals.
  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps, which include product selection versions, upgrades, projects, and milestones.
  • Conduct research focused on identifying emerging technology solutions that reduce cost, increase efficiencies, provide more value, provide more capabilities, reduce risks, and increase security within the Warfighter community.
  • Lead efforts for technology evaluations, which involves identifying a weighted feature matrix for a specific need and evaluating and scoring products against the desired features.
  • Research activities include investigation, proof of concepts (POCs), and lab testing.
  • Communicate leading practices by giving presentations, working with program/project teams, and authoring content aimed at educating others about standards, strategies, and otherwise defined leading practices.
  • Work individually and collaboratively with team members to ensure breadth and granularity of strategies, standards, and reference architectures for consistency and integration qualifications.
  • Confidence and professionalism with the ability to present both technical and business concepts to professionals of any level.
  • Ten years of experience in Ground Vehicle, Design, and engineering, managing and supporting large scale projects and automotive, preferably within a professional services firm or similar environment.
