About the job Program Manager (Defense)

Responsible for overall program performance including cost, schedule, technical delivery, and customer satisfaction, you will work closely with the Chief Engineer to deliver an integrated system solution while maintaining program profitability and meeting all contractual obligations.

A TYPICAL DAY:
- Lead overall program execution, ensuring delivery of all contractual requirements
- Develop and maintain program master schedule, risk management plan, and budget
- Monitor and control program costs, schedule, and technical performance
- Ensure compliance with all Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs)
- Establish and maintain program management processes and controls
- Lead program reviews and status meetings with customer and internal stakeholders
- Direct and manage cross-functional team including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
- Work closely with Chief Engineer to ensure technical requirements are met
- Oversee program staff including engineers and administrative support
- Coordinate with functional managers for resource allocation
- Foster collaborative working environment between technical and program teams
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in defense program management
- Demonstrated experience managing complex technical programs
- Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes and requirements
- Experience with earned value management systems (EVMS)
- Knowledge of defense contracting, FAR/DFAR regulations
- Ability to hold secret security clearance
- Understanding of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs)

Customer Relations
- Serve as primary customer interface for programmatic matters
- Present program status to customer and executive management
- Manage customer expectations and ensure satisfaction
- Lead customer program reviews and technical interchange meetings
- Maintain strong working relationship with government program office
Financial Management
- Responsible for program P&L and financial performance
- Manage program budget and cash flow
- Track and report earned value metrics
- Identify and implement cost control measures
- Ensure proper billing and revenue recognition
Technical Integration
- Coordinate with Chief Engineer on technical approach and execution
- Oversee development of integration laboratory
- Ensure system integration requirements are met
- Review and approve technical documentation
- Support technical risk management
Procurement & Subcontract Management
- Oversee supplier and subcontractor management
- Review and approve make/buy decisions
- Ensure compliance with purchasing requirements
- Manage vendor relationships and performance
- Monitor supply chain risk
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office environment with periodic travel to customer sites
- Access to integration laboratory facilities
- May require occasional travel to supplier locations
- Must maintain security clearance requirements
- Regular interaction with customer representatives

SALARY INFO:
- Salary range for this position is $150,000-160,000 annually plus benefits
