About The Role:

Our client is looking for an experienced WordPress Developer who specializes in JavaScript and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing and optimizing WordPress websites, ensuring that both functionality and performance meet the highest standards. This is a role with a strong focus on site performance, particularly speed and scalability.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and front-end performance.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and deliver dynamic, interactive, and high-performance WordPress websites using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, etc.).
• Optimize website performance, including image optimization, caching, lazy loading, and minification of assets to improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, FID, CLS).
• Conduct performance audits, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance loading times and user experience.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, back-end, and content teams) to ensure smooth implementation of features and performance enhancements.
• Troubleshoot, test, and resolve performance issues and bugs to ensure websites are fast and responsive.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on performance-related issues, providing recommendations and solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and performance best practices to ensure the websites remain competitive.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience as a WordPress Developer, with a focus on JavaScript and performance optimization.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), with experience in React, Vue.js, or other front-end JavaScript frameworks.
• Proven experience optimizing WordPress websites for speed, performance, and scalability.
• Solid understanding of Core Web Vitals (LCP, FID, CLS) and practical experience improving these metrics.
• Experience with performance tools like Google Lighthouse, GTMetrix, or Pingdom to conduct performance audits and identify improvement areas.
• Experience with performance plugins like WP Rocket, Autoptimize, and other speed optimization tools.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and SASS/SCSS.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with WordPress multisite and large-scale websites.
• Knowledge of PHP for troubleshooting back-end performance-related issues.
• Experience with CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) to improve site speed and scalability.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices in relation to website performance.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Additional Information:

• Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM EST
• Full-Time: 40 hours per week
• Type of Contract: Independent contractor
