About the job Accountant
Job Purpose
to provide daily support to the Finance and Accounting department by managing daily accounting tasks. Prepare financial statements and provide financial information by maintaining and reconciling accounts and providing
reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
KRA Financial
- Assist in the preparation of yearly budget with the Finance Manager and the Accountant.
- Budget monitoring and control monthly to ensure that the forecast is maintained correctly.
- Manage operational and capital budget to ensure that the operations and investments are well within
- budgeted costs and ensure that costs are contained as far as possible.
KRA Operations
- Assist in the follow up of accounts payables, month-end closing and cash flow management.
- Assist the Accountant/Finance Manager in budget estimation and budgetary control over planned and unplanned expenditure.
- Assist with financial and tax audits.
- Supervision on the re-allocation of expenses to the various department.
- Correct errors by posting and adjusting journal entries.
- Process all bank/cash transactions and reconcile same.
- Process suppliers bills and prepare payment.
- Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
- Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
- Assist the accountant in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
- Prepare monthly payments to Insurers. Reconcile our statement of account with Insurers and sort out discrepancies.
- Attend to insurers queries and do the liaison between CBL team and insurers to resolve any issue.
KRA People and resources - Assist the Accountant and the Accounts Officer (Payables) in his/her daily duties as and when required.
- KRA Reporting
- Provide monthly Capex reports.
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
- Analyse expenses and revenues to ensure that reports are recorded properly on a monthly basis.
- Prepare monthly accounts reconciliations and management reports.
- Assist with analysing financial statements monthly and report variances.
- Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements.
- Responsible for monthly VAT and TDS returns for the annual TDS return.
- Responsible for goods and purchases yearly return.
- Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures.
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports as and when requested.
- Any related duties as assigned by the Accountant/Finance Manager.
Education and Qualifications
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field with a minimum of 2 4 years of working
experience in Accounting.
Or an ACCA Level 2 with a minimum of 3 - 5 years working experience in Accounting.
Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to Income Tax Act, IFRS, IAS etc.
Specialised Knowledge

Strong understanding of accounting theory.

Ability to act and work independently with minimal daily direction by the Finance Manager.
Ability to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed
