Job Purpose:

The Assistant Aide cuisinier (Commis) supports the kitchen team by performing essential food preparation tasks and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Working under the supervision of the head chef, the commis plays a key role in ensuring the timely and consistent preparation of quality dishes in line with restaurant standards. This position contributes to the smooth operation of the kitchen and helps deliver a high-quality dining experience to customers by upholding hygiene standards, assisting in plating, and demonstrating a willingness to learn and grow within a professional kitchen setting.

Key duties :

  • Assist the head chef in preparing and cooking dishes according to our company's recipes and standards.
  • Ensure that all ingredients are properly measured, portioned, and stored.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station at all times.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Help with food preparation and plating, including cutting, slicing, and garnishing .
  • Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations .
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head chef or kitchen manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience as a commis or assistant aide cuisinier in a professional kitchen .
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A passion for cooking and eagerness to learn and improve.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • School diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or certification is a plus
  • Experience in Mediterranean cuisine would be a big plus.
