Job Title: Senior Accounts Officer

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:

    • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
    • Ensure the organization maintains adequate liquidity for daily operations by monitoring cash flow and making necessary adjustments.
    • Develop and oversee financial projections and budgets to support strategic planning and decision-making.
    • Review and analyze management accounts on a monthly basis to track performance against targets and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, consisting of two direct reports (Account Officer AR and Account Officer AP).
    • Identify training and development needs of team members and provide coaching and on-the-job training to enhance their skills and performance.
    • Cascade departmental objectives into individual goals and monitor team performance, conducting regular performance reviews and establishing work procedures as needed.
  3. Budgetary Control and Monitoring:

    • Initiate and oversee the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
    • Monitor budget performance on a monthly and quarterly basis, identifying any deviations and taking corrective actions promptly to ensure financial targets are met.
  4. Financial Reporting and Compliance:

    • Maintain proper books of accounts to ensure financial controls and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and review financial reports for management and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.
    • Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies for audit closure, Financial Reporting Council (FRC) queries, and statutory filings for the company.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: ACCA Qualified/Degree in Finance and Accounting or relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial management and accounting roles.
  • Technical Competencies: Proficiency in accounting standards, financial modeling, budgetary control, treasury management, and MS Excel.
  • Behavioral Competencies: Strong attention to detail, business acumen, problem-solving skills, effective communication, leadership abilities, and resilience.

Internal Relationships:

  • Business Development: Collaboration on debtors' collection targets.
  • Marketing: Coordination on advertising and marketing budget allocation.
  • IT: Communication on access rights and resolution of IT issues affecting financial operations.

External Relationships:

  • Suppliers: Management of payment processes and vendor relationships.
  • Clients: Communication regarding debtors' statements and resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Regulatory Bodies: Liaison for audit processes, FRC queries, and statutory filings to ensure compliance with regulations.
